I am glad I do not lead a boring life. I don't know that I would know what to do with boring. However, I do know what I would do with a little extra free time. Le sigh!
So, our boss at work "retired". a little over 2 weeks ago. We now have the manager from the Jantzen Beach store, and she is quite an amazing manager at that! I wasn't very hopeful, but things are getting done, and that makes me happy. Yesterday was the first day in months I can remember being excited about going to work! Yeah me!
I have learned that there were a lot of things being done poorly, not done at all, or done by the wrong people in the store, which is why it wasn't running smoothly. I have been informed as to what my job really is, given a helper (which I was supposed to have from the start) to do some of the grunt work for me, and they are starting to let the other managers an employees know that I am a REAL manager, and should be listened to, obeyed and all that stuff.
This, gentle readers, should make my job a lot easier in the long run.
Maria (new boss lady) has been gathering info on employees so she can work with them to make them happier and to get the store running the way it should be. But the best thing ever??! She spent the last 2 days with Jason and I, on her hands and knees like us, moving stock, getting merchandise out, and working hard.
Wow!
I am excited! I know, it takes so little.
Of course, we have a new District manager as well, and I worked with her in the Seattle area. She is a tough lady, but fair. She understands the way things really work, and doesn't get on you for the little stuff. It looks like my dream management team has a possibility of becoming a reality. Again, wow!
