Other things around the house and such.

Spring is exploding everywhere. Just when we look like we have hit the end and headed into summer, some batch of trees somewhere realizes it has not been keeping up with the Jones. It bursts into bloom and flaunts it's colors. It's been very nice indeed.
Went to the Portland Market a few weekends ago. It was quite lovely. Loki had his fist Max ride, and did quite well. We were mobbed by squeeling girls who wanted to pet the puppy, and we had beautiful sunny weather to top it all off!
Here are some pictures of this event.

So much in so little time!

I am glad I do not lead a boring life. I don't know that I would know what to do with boring. However, I do know what I would do with a little extra free time. Le sigh!

So, our boss at work "retired". a little over 2 weeks ago. We now have the manager from the Jantzen Beach store, and she is quite an amazing manager at that! I wasn't very hopeful, but things are getting done, and that makes me happy. Yesterday was the first day in months I can remember being excited about going to work! Yeah me!

I have learned that there were a lot of things being done poorly, not done at all, or done by the wrong people in the store, which is why it wasn't running smoothly. I have been informed as to what my job really is, given a helper (which I was supposed to have from the start) to do some of the grunt work for me, and they are starting to let the other managers an employees know that I am a REAL manager, and should be listened to, obeyed and all that stuff.
This, gentle readers, should make my job a lot easier in the long run.

Maria (new boss lady) has been gathering info on employees so she can work with them to make them happier and to get the store running the way it should be. But the best thing ever??! She spent the last 2 days with Jason and I, on her hands and knees like us, moving stock, getting merchandise out, and working hard.

Wow!

I am excited! I know, it takes so little.

Of course, we have a new District manager as well, and I worked with her in the Seattle area. She is a tough lady, but fair. She understands the way things really work, and doesn't get on you for the little stuff. It looks like my dream management team has a possibility of becoming a reality. Again, wow!

I joined an online community many years ago called Freecycle.org. It is a place where people give the things they no longer want (but are still in decent shape and working) away for free to whoever wants it. Recently I was able to obtain a bunch of Carrhart jeans and a pair of bib overalls. This week I scored a new toaster (no more blue sparks!!!) and a bag of about 25 National Geographic magazines.

I feel so wealthy!
