Sunny morning drive.

This is what my drives into work have been looking like with all this good weather. This was taken about 6:30 am. Pale blue sky, mist on the fields, cool air. Been driving with the window down and the radio off. I love my commute!

Soon I will be on my way.

I head to Seattle again this morning to paint the mural at Tom's house. I am excited, but craving a quiet weekend at home. I am looking forward to rolling out of bed next Saturday when I please, not when the alarm wakes me. I am looking forward to painting, yard work and sitting around with a good book or magazine. I am looking forward to a weekend of motion that doesn't involve 350 plus miles of driving.

Whine whine whine.

While Mom and Dad were here, Dad put in a screen door for me. It's the last big project I have wanted to do to my little place. Every time I let a cat in or out, I would let a few flies in. There seem to be quite a few hanging about this area. They make me feel like white trash when they swarm around my house. It makes me want to wash everything down with acid or bleach or something that screams 'disinfected!!!' I know it won't get rid of the flies, be cause dirt isn't the problem. However, the association with flies and poor sanitation is impossible for me to shake.

Pug was very excited about the visit of two strangers already, but watching Dad put in the door was extra exciting for him. Dad and I put a small wood bar across the bottom to make it possible for me to cut a cat door in the screening. This has practically solved my fly problem. I was wondering how to get Pug used to the new little cat door. My solution was to simply reach through it and pull him into the house. It worked quite well after he got over the shock of the whole experience. He has used the door with no issues (except for bad aim, which is hilarious to watch!) and it's been a great addition to my little place. Thanks Dad!

The visit.

Mom and Dad came to visit this last weekend. We had a such great time! They met me at work Friday and we headed over to the Hollywood district to find 'Cafe Hibiscus'; a little Swiss restaurant they found a review for in a magazine. Bless the owner's heart, she was booked solid for the night, but squeezed us in when she heard Mom and Dad had driven from Seattle to eat there. I am so glad she did because it was truly like eating in Switzerland! Amazing food. Just amazing! I had (of course) the wurstsalad, and I will be going back for more. The dressing they used was just like the stuff you get in Switzerland, and I tell ya, we can't find that here. Except....(drumroll)...now we can because they make it and sell it. Oh heaven on earth! I think I will build a shack behind this restaurant and live there so I can be close to the wursties. Very, very close.
We drove around a bit before dinner and stumbled upon one of the McMenimen pubs and hotels. This one was the Kennedy School, which I have been to before. The owners buy old buildings, and them renovate them. They decorate them up and theme the rooms. It's amazing and quite beautiful. I think they own 8 buildings in all, and I'd love to spend a night in each one. Anyways, I showed them around. I have been to this one a few times, so know where the really cool rooms were. The have one bar called The Boiler Room which is done up with a lot of creative pipework. It is my favorite room there. Here are 2 pictures. The hall is a good taste of the decorations throughout the entire building, the second is of the bar I like.

Well, more later. Need to get ready for work.
